Born in Aachen in 1979, Anno Schreier combines a wide variety of musical styles and deliberately sets them in contrast with one another. His works draw on both classical traditions and influences from pop and minimal music, and are often vivid and narrative in character.
Anno Schreier has made a particular name for himself as an opera composer. His operas have been premiered at major opera houses including the Opernhaus Zürich, Theater an der Wien, and the Staatstheater Nürnberg.
Now, the label écoutez! releases the first portrait album dedicated to works by Anno Schreier. Soloists of the Holst Sinfonietta Freiburg perform chamber-musical soundscapes composed between 2007 and 2020. In contrast, the internationally renowned soprano Katharina Ruckgaber, together with pianist Klaus Simon, has recorded a selection of light-hearted and ironic Morgenstern songs from 2021.
The album cover was designed by Vivian Eckstein.
